Pretty Little Pincushions

1109071255Pretty Little Pincushions, the book I submitted a project to last year, is finally out. My Mom and I checked our local Barnes & Noble store to see if they had a copy. Sure enough, they had one. This is my Mom holding up my project's page at the store.

I really wanted to show someone my little pincushion guys were in print but then thought twice about it. What would I say? "Hey, wanna see my pincushion heads?" Yeah, that'd be awkward. And, guess what? It was. Poor poor book clerk sales guy. He so innocently asked if he could help me not knowing what was about to descend.

I replied manically, "YES! You can sell lots of these books!"(not that I even make any money from them!) and wagged the book in his face. I think I may have poked him in the ribs a little with the corner of the book too. In my head I was thinking tone it down a little, lunatic woman, chill out but I had already gone over the edge.

He was not taken with my enthusiasm and simply said, "how very nice for you."

I suddenly felt ridiculous, and rightfully so. Without saying anything I left him holding the book and quickly walked away dragging Tootie to hide in the children's section. That is where I stayed feigning interest in Brown Bear Brown Bear until Poor book clerk sales guy shelved my precious book.

Back Normal?

Things are slowly returning to normal around here. My Dr. seems to think it was either an allergic reaction to something like poison ivy originally, than compounded by additional allergies to both the topical ointment and antibiotic the Dr at the Urgent Care prescribed. OR it is a very unusual case of shingles. I suppose it doesn't really matter now. The meds I'm on seem to be clearing it up although it looks as if I'm going to have a 3"x 5" patch of discoloration of my skin for a long while -- almost similar to a healed burn.

My Mom flew up from way down South to baby me and my little family for 2 weeks. There's nothing like having your Mom around to fuss over you. We're having a terrific time. She's inspired me to start cooking again, especially in more healthful ways. I think this whole ordeal has been a good wake up call at just how fragile our bodies are and that I do, indeed, need to take better care of us as a family. That plus H just hit the big four-oh. 40! I'm married to a 40 year old man (man!). jeepers.

Enough talk about my health issues and the Big Ankle Eating Rash Overreaction Debacle of Fall 2007. You didn't come over to my little corner of the Blogisphere for that. No. No. You came for Crafty goodness! And Dolls! Right? Well, you don't need to wait any longer. Behold two, that's right 2! dolls finished and soon to be up for sale on eBay. I will post more information about little Sylvia and Mabel tomorrow when, hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can get some decent shots.

BTW, you all really know how to make a girl feel loved. Thank you all for leaving comments. It certainly brightened my day through this last bit of unpleasantness. thanks.
