backpack backpack yeah!

backpack

Backpack3Backpack2She needed a backpack for preschool that was big enough to hold a folder. I didn't see any I liked at the store so I made one for her. Plus I wanted to see if I could do it.

The frog pocket is from a skirt I found at a garage sale earlier this summer. The straps are adjustable with covered buttons and buttonholes so it can grow with her -- as if she'll want it into her teen years.

"What are things that are considered pretty?"

"Flowers. Rainbows. Heads."

"Heads?"

"Yeah, heads."

"Mommy? Why does saliva come out?"

"?????"

"You know, out of volcanoes?"

"Do you mean lava?"

"Yeah, that's what I said, sa-lava."
*******************

"Do crabs dance if you throw them into a fire?"

******************
"Mommy, what would you think if my belly was huge?" (Arms outstretched in front of her.)

"Well, if you were a woman I'd think you may be pregnant."

"You know Mommy, sometimes men can look that way too."

Upon observing ants eating a dead cicada: "Do you suppose the ants lined up and waited around him saying 'when is he going to die already?'"

It's all about me now isn't it?

I've read over my last several posts and see I've got quite the theme going. It's a *me* love-fest. Sorry about that. I've been a little self focused and naval gazing-ish. I think all the hullabaloo about the reunion has set me off track. And because I know you're just dying to know how it went and you've been having sleepless nights wondering, I give you Reunion 2007: the Cliffnotes.

  • We are all 20 years older than we were in 1987.

  • Some people never change which is sad for some and refreshingly wonderful for others.

  • I have changed significantly.

  • More than half the people I discussed children with have had fertility difficulties.

  • 12pt type on a name tag is way too small for a group pushing 40.

  • "You look gorgeous." is plenty. It need not be followed up with "I never would have thought." or "You are the biggest surprise of the evening.

  • I'm am one content girl with how my life is.

Thanks everyone who commented previously about the reunion. You helped tremendously. What? You want to see a picture? You mean I can't just post a bulleted list? Alright, here you go.

Next up; back to the basics. I'll be back on track with my crafty stuff.
