Shakespeare

SONNET 130

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

ahhhhhh

I'm sewing again. I'm working on 2 tote bags and once those are done I'll be back to making dolls. I'm having a little trouble getting used to my new machine. The best way to describe my trouble is it seems slippery. Maybe I'm just not used to it. My fabric seems to slide more on this machine.

Now for a Tootie story. She came up to me asking for a snack. She asked specifically for a bowl of green "sprinkles" which is green colored sugar used to decorate cookies. I said no, of course, and chuckled saying very sarcastically "I might as well give you the bag of sugar and a spoon". You should have seen her eyes. They kind of glossed over as she imagined what that would be like. I heard a small sigh and a euphoric "ahhhhhh, sugar". It was classic Homer Simpson. beautiful.

A week in review

Sorry for the lack of posting. I can't believe it's been a whole week with no new posts. What can I say? I'm a slacker. I'd like to say I've been busy busy busy at work creating new stuff, hmmmmm. Let's see, what did I really do?
  • I flew a kite with Toots.
  • I went to the playground everyday.
  • Taught Toots how to ride a bike, with training wheels of course, she's not THAT advanced.

  • Checked my email 5 million times.
  • Sang Beyond the Sea and the Firetruck song 20-30 times or so.
  • Helped H replace our water heater. Actually, I did nothing but hold a blow-torch for maybe 3 minutes in which my arms got tired and I became a sissygirl. H proceeded to do everything by himself.
  • Spent the night at my parent's condo do to aforementioned Great Water Heater Installation 2006 in which we both vowed never to sleep in the same bed with Tootie again. Ever. Really. It was brutal.

Now, I really should get back to doing some crafting.

Oh, and I hope you can see the little movie. You'll have to have flash installed on your computer. If you don't and don't wanna I understand. It's just my pumpkin riding a bike for the first time but that's okay. I wouldn't think you were heartless or anything. Just lazy or a slacker like me. When I see those download things I don't bother. If it still doesn't load and you have flash then I'm sorry. There's not a thing I can do except send it by ESP. good luck.

13 years

H sewing

This is H. This is H sewing. He needed some alterations done on his uniform so I started working as he hovered over me watching. Pretty soon he wasn't satisfied just watching and asked if he could try. I showed him the basics and off he went. I decided I needed some documentation of this big event and snapped these photos.

sewing intense

Isn't he cute? The intensity! The concentration! The precision! All done with sporadic announcements This is easy. This is addicting. No wonder you like this. Oh no, the string broke. It didn't like that.

Tomorrow, April 17th, is our 13 year wedding anniversary. Look at us. We look like kids.

Our Wedding 1993

I met H at a wedding. The very first time I saw him I had the immediate thought That's your future husband. Wow! I thought back, he's really good looking! I've learned that he's not only good looking but smart, witty, opinionated, loving and funny as well. Sorry for the sappiness but it IS true. I can't help it. I'm in love. My heart still does butterflies when I catch him looking at me. I pray we can be like one of those couples like in the movie When Harry Met Sally. I can picture Tootie rolling her eyes about us when she's an adult.

Happy Anniversary H!

Romans 8 (I Am Convinced)

by Darren Clarke

I am convinced
Death nor life
Neither angels nor demons
Not the present nor the future
Nor any other powers, height nor depth
Not anything in all creation
Not anything in all creation
Not anything in all creation
Shall keep us from
The love of God
That is in Jesus Christ our Lord

Nothing shall separate us from the love of God
Nothing shall separate us from the love of God
Nothing shall separate us from the love of God
Nothing at all

Romans 8:38-39 NIV:
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

And from my good friend Alison who has taught me so much about Jesus' character, our freedom in being, our freedom in speaking and our freedom to love.

Places to Go. People to See

shoes

Finally some nice weather for a refreshing change. She insisted on the hat telling me "grab your camera Mama and take lots of pictures". So, I did. I love this one. It looks like a standoff. As if I'm in her way. Got Buzz, got the truck and a fabulous pink hat, what more do I need?

The Craftshow went well. Well enough to buy a new sewing machine. I picked it up today and immediately tried out all of the stitches. I don't know what I'm going to do with such a fancy schmancy machine. The old one I've been using is from the early 70's and you can smell the ozone burning when it's used. But the new machine? Smooth as butter. What WILL I do with all the time I'll save not doing everything manually? AND I bought a Gathering Foot. Hey, look at me. I said Gathering Foot like I know what I'm talking about and like I'm a sew-er person or something. A Gathering Foot is a special thingy that allows you to do ruffles and stuff but it's not a Ruffling Foot which is different or so I've been told.

Lots of sewing goodness coming your way. Now how do I thread this thing?
