Blog Balderdash

I'm totally copying from an acquaintance, John who, by the way, just learned about his new daughter today!!

Here's how to play: click 'post a comment,' type the verification code into the body of the email, and tell us what it means. It can be an acronym, it can be a definition.

Here are some examples. Again, totally ripped from John blog.

oops, forgot to turn word verification on. Now try it.

Will post pictures tomorrow of what craftiness I've been working on.

Whatnots

No SPT for me today. I can barely keep my eyes open due to exhaustion from the great G2BS weekend hoopla. Man, I'm getting old. More coffee is brewing. AmFam linked me and since then my stats have gone through the roof. I feel I need to perform now so I can get you to stay awhile.

I am madly working on things for a craft show we're hosting at our Church in April. We're a new church and this is the first one we've ever done. Not sure what the other arts and craps will be like...but I'll have my little table of whatnots. Sorry, no new dolls to post because of this. Not sure when I'll be getting to those. I will eventually. Below is a peek of my work table.

A big thank you goes out to Canny Cat for the tote and fabric she sent to me as a swap for a pincushion. She also sent a chocolate bar which is long gone.

G2BS President's Day Hoopla

I'm exhausted. I had the privilege to meet some of my Blogstonian friends. The heavy hitters too; American Family, JenEx, Chicagomama, Shelly and Shelba all got together for a big shindig. Great time was had by all. It was nice to finally meet friends with whom I've gotten to know over the past year or so. Everyone is just as lovely as they depict themselves on their blog. ahem*.

So what do a bunch of bloggers find themselves doing once they get together face to face?

Addicted I tell you. Addicted.

Thanks everyone. I am honored that you would make a trip just so we could meet.

*That ahem was for AmFam. Girl, you don't give yourself enough credit. You are loved and a kickin hostess.

Frog Mail

Image hosting by Photobucket

Tootie got a new friend yesterday in the mail as well as other goodies from Stephi at Kleinehelden (small heroes). I swapped her the Nicholette doll, now named Suse, for more of Tootie's favorite froggie stuff. The frogs are made in Germany by Sigikid. Stephi sent her a little frog (on the left) whose new name is Mama frog which matches her beloved big frog (middle). She also got a matching bag which Tootie carries everywhere to keep the frog family in. To add to the cuteness she also got adorable frog barrettes which you can kind of see in the photo. Toots has to have these on all of the time now except for sleeping "because Mama, I could lose them in the sheets".

Big thank you to Stephanie for getting those much loved items!

In other news we visited a Montessori preschool and will start Tootie in a couple weeks twice a week. She loved the classroom and all the different learning stations. I'm excited. She's excited. It's all good.

SPT - All of Me

This month's Self-Portrait Tuesday challenge is "all of me."

February Challenge "all of me" - love the ugly bits.

SPT Feb: all of me

So here I am no make-up and all. I'm waiting for Tootie to jump onto my back. My smirk is revealing my anticipation of her wrangling my head and climbing all over me. Don't you know Motherhood's job description includes being able to morph into playground equipment on command? Before Tootie I didn't venture too far without make-up, a put together outfit and my hair styled. Now? eh. I'm a Mama. Not that I don't like doing that stuff or that I don't take pride in my appearance and am letting myself go...but the day to day stuff? where we play and read and wrestle and hug? I don't need make-up for that. It's just 15 10 5 minutes I could be doing something else like sleeping in checking email.

Road Trip

First, I want to thank everyone for leaving such kind comments. Thank you.

We just returned from a quick weekend trip to reunite with Tootie's friends from the same SWI. It was fun to see how much the girls have grown. Toots' highlight was the room. She was excited! about! everything! Look! A mirror! There's a mirror in our room! And a bathroom! Hey, there's a window! And a radio! She was into everything and I do mean everything.. I suppose they needed to cool off.

Which one is my kid? I'll give you one guess.

Tootie-isms

While eating lunch.

Mama? Mama? Mama? Mama?

Yes?
I say through a mouthful of food.

Don't talk with your mouth full Mama.

*******
While playing chase through the house.

Come Daddy! CHASE me! You have too, you're my friend!"

*******
Look at me Mama! Look. Look. Look!

I look at her.
Stop looking at me.

Because She Asked

Mrs. Frog detail

I planned on working on my dolls but my daughter had an other idea. I was just sitting down with the beginnings of a new doll when she came over and asked if I was making something for her. I asked her if she wanted a doll. no. She wanted a frog. Specifically, a Mrs. Frog to go with Frog, baby frog and the most recent development - baby sister frog. How could I resist such a request? She asked for a pocket so Mrs Frog could carry baby sister frog around. View the entire frog family.

Family Day

Image hosting by PhotobucketImage hosting by Photobucket

Two years ago today we met Toots in person. She was no longer a dream. No longer a crumpled little photo we tucked inside our pockets. No longer a I'll believe it when I see it. She was handed to us in a mad chaos of crying new parents and babies. She didn't cry. I didn't cry. H? He sobbed. I love that man. We've got great videotape of it. We then did what we said we'd do, plop her on a bed and stare at her. We still do that but now she tells us to cut it out.

I love my candy loving Toy Story watching girl. Happy Family Day, H and Tootie!

Greta's doll

I promised a close friend of mine that I would do a doll for her daughter but without the yarn hair I typically do. Greta is still a baby so the doll is going to have to withstand cruel and unusual punishment. I hope she stands up to the test. We'll see. Doing hair other than yarn was tough for me. I had what I thought was a brilliant idea but once it was actually created, ah, not so much. I decided to resurrect my fabric hair idea I tried this past summer which was also a failure and wound up looking like a hair hat. This time I cut the fabric into strips and sewed them down individually creating a kind of short bob. I was smug about it for 2 whole minutes until I asked what H thought.
I like it. Especially her hat.
It's not a hat.
Oh. I like her...?
Hair. It's her hair.
Oh.

Not sure now what I think. I liked it. I think I still like it. It looks like hair, right? With little sprouts sticking up. The sprouts are left over from the first hair trial. I had those all along the top of her head. Kind of like the statue of liberty. It was freaky because she was bald everywhere else and it just didn't do it for me. so. I give you Hair-Hat Hair Greta Sprout Doll. This is when, Karen, you don't scroll down if you want it to be a surprise. Which I know you'll scroll down anyway because I totally would.
