I use a spool as my guide. I trace on the wrong side of the fabric.

Follow the line as a guide.

cut the circles out leaving about 1/8" - 1/4" allowance.

Cut a slit on the back so you can turn the fabric. If I were making a big flower, like as a pincushion, I would have left an opening when sewing. This will give you a consistant edge.

Stuff tight.

Sew shut. You might want to use matching thread.

Use 2 strands of embroidery thread, double over and knot. Push through so needle comes out the front side. Loop around to front again. Pull tight. This will make a line.

Continue and space equally. I usually make 5 to look like a star.

Add beads to the middle.

Push bobby pin through thread loops on back.

You're done!

Oh yay!!! I was going to ask you for something like this. Love them!
thank you very much, I'll try for sure :)
that's so generous of you. I'm going to try them for a 6 year old girl who's not into pinks but likes dragons and I've got green Oilily fabric to do it with. Am so excited :)
Thankyou so much for sharing. They are gorgeous!
Super cute!
Wow, so clever!!! It would have taken me ages to figure out you don't need to do them exactly the same as a big pin cushion! Thanks so much, I'll definately try them out ;D
I recently discovered your blog. What a joyful place. Thanks for sharing the tutorial.

Oh thank you for showing this! I don't know that I will ever have the skill to make them, but I for the life of me had no idea how you were making them.

wow! now that's how you teach people how to do something, not my pathetic dots on the wall explanation! I am in awe!

Thank you so much for the tutorial. It is going to be lots of fun trying this new project.
This is AWESOME! I just happened upon your blog tonight and I am highly impressed. How do you sew those circles so perfectly???!!!!! Any tips?
Julie,
Thanks. HA! I get this question a lot. I don't know except to go slow. Make sure not to cut your circles out until after you sew them. The bigger the circle the easier it is to sew. If you make a row of them (8 circles on a line of fabric), cut it smaller (4 circles) so you can turn easier. Hmmmm, what else? If you stuff tightly you can kind of shape it into a ball.
Thank you very much for sharing. would be wonderful as a shawl or hat brooch in velvet.I´ll try and post it .
highly impressed! Love K
OMG!! this is so wonderful! I am so making this for myself!!
